Set in the Limestone Coast of South Australia, our original farm “Greenvale” was purchased and opened up in 1960 by Geoffrey and Cynthia Clothier. Located near Lucindale, the 800 acres was farmed with sheep, cattle and some cropping, then in 1974 the property next door was purchased, expanding the farm to 1610 acres. Graham, son of Geoffrey and Cynthia, and wife Karen later took on Greenvale, and ran the property predominantly for lambs and wool until 2017 when 1000 egg layers were introduced. Over 8 years, this has grown to 10,000 hens across 10 purpose built trailers, with Maremma dogs to guard them day and night from predators. The introduction of the pasture raised egg production allowed 3rd generation Greenvale farmer, Sam, and his wife Nicole, to become partners in the operation with Graham and Karen, and later welcoming brother Oliver, and wife Meg, into the business too.
Our eggs are laid in our specially designed nesting boxes inside our portable sheds, or “caravans”. Eggs are collected daily ensuring freshness and high quality. They are highly nutritious due to the hens access to pasture and a scientifically formulated supplementary feed in their diet. Due to the changing nature of the pasture out in the paddock, the colour of our egg yolks change from a pale yellow to a deep orange depending on the season. Our eggs encapsulate the perfect ratio of protein and healthy fats providing an array of health benefits, and an infinite number of ways to incorporate them into your meals.

Our hens live out in the paddocks free to roam the green perennial pastures as they please. This allows the hens to forage as nature intended, and encourages their natural behaviours, ensuring happy healthy birds. Our hens are protected by Maremma dogs who roam freely along side them, and the caravans provide a safe place to perch and lay eggs. Our hens have plenty of space with only 200 hens to the hectare
Eggs are collected from the chicken caravans daily and then are housed back in the cool room in our processing shed. As a smaller scale operation, we process our eggs weekly through our state of the art processing machine. Here the eggs travel via a conveyer belt to be washed, candled, uv sterilised, stamped, weighed and packaged, ready to deliver to your door.

Pasture raised eggs mean exactly that! Eggs that have been laid from hens living out on the pasture!
An article published by Allen Williams¹, shared that pasture raised egg yolks have 2-3 times more Vitamin A, 3 times more Vitamin E, and significantly higher levels of Vitamins D & K when compared to commercially grown eggs. They have been shown to have 2-3 times more Omega-3 fatty acids and significantly higher levels of folate and Vitamin B12. A nutritional powerhouse in one convenient little package!

Having hens free to roam on our pasture benefits the land in many ways and contributes to a more sustainable agricultural ecosystem. The hens naturally fertilise the pasture with their manure which is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, and helps with regeneration and soil health.
